Just over a week to go until the big day. Presents are bought or in the process of being bought or delivered, cards are posted and the food and drink shopping list is being made up. You may even be lucky enough to know how many you’re cooking Christmas or Boxing Day lunch for and when people are due to visit. The only thing left to do is dig out all those Christmas kitchen essentials that come out but once a year!
Extra large roasting tin, extra crockery, cutlery, glassware and general cookware, not only needs to be located but also needs somewhere to live for the next couple of weeks that will be close to hand. The chances are all those things are probably stuffed in the back or on top of a cupboard somewhere. They could be stored in the loft or garage or even away from home is a small self storage unit. Wherever they are, it’s time to dig them out. And it’s not just the additional pots and pans that will need a home, there’s the additional food and drink to think about too. Your fridge and freezer which normally cope so well are about to become overloaded! Continue reading
Right now you are probably busy reviewing the calendar and trying to fit in your visits to other people for Christmas. It’s highly likely that you are also preparing for your own Christmas visitors. They may be coming for a few hours, a few days or even weeks. There may be 1 or 2 at a time, a few more, or, if you’re planning a big get together, a house full!
Bags under the stairs, toys around the floors and easily breakable items all need to be moved, for safety reasons as well as to avoid damage. Whether you’re a last minute shopper or a longer term planner, when it comes to Christmas presents they need to stay hidden until they’re ready to be handed over. For many people finding storage solutions that keep them safe, undamaged and hidden isn’t always easy. If you have children, it can feel almost impossible.
This is the time when your children suddenly start offering to tidy up, poking their heads in to linen cupboards that they’ve not been in for nearly a year; offering to help clean out the garage or go up into the loft the get the Christmas decorations down. In fact, it’s thought that two thirds of children go hunting for their Christmas presents before Christmas Day.
For some, the answer is to move things from place to place hoping to outrun the snoopers, but this doesn’t always work. If they can’t find what they’re looking for, they will do the next best thing – turn to Google! A couple of smart search terms will not only reveal the common places where parents hide presents, but also tips on how to find them and avoid getting caught snooping!

Many will have had their Christmas stock ordered and stored some time ago, but there is still time for a big push. If you’re going to go all out and restock your most popular items, space may be at a premium, especially if you have embraced the American Black Friday theme and perhaps bought in additional or larger items to sell at reduced prices for this one weekend.
