Storage solutions at Christmas time

family with christmas presentsChristmas time, mistletoe and wine and nowhere to hide away the presents ahead of the big day. Basically you need storage solutions.

It’s an issue that many families have in the build up to Christmas. We all like to buy early and make sure that nothing is left to chance or more importantly, that our chosen gifts are not out of stock.

However, if you are purchasing sizeable presents like furniture, bikes, beds, stacking  systems with speakers or the like, have you thought where you might store them?

Have you any storage solutions?

Some folk have a spare room with a key. Ideal. However, many haven’t.

Some will use a friends’ house, but even then, it’s a big favour to ask, especially if your friends have a similar problem.

Have you ever thought about a small self storage unit? What could be better? Order your goods on-line on day one, pick them up on day two and duly drop them off at your storage unit to complete the process.

Then, after Christmas, you can either bring to an end your short-term contract with the self storage company or carry on using it for convenience.

After all, if you’ve bought bikes for the children and are running out of space in your garage or shed, why not give the bikes pride of place and transfer your lawnmower, hedge clippers, shovels, trowels, forks and garden furniture to the storage unit.

You could do the same with your summer clothes which will not get another airing until April, at the earliest (if you’re lucky!).

Four reasons why a storage unit is the perfect storage solution at Christmas

  1. We all enjoy a surprise.Equally we all dread the moment when our nosey kids climb on top of the wardrobe to establish precisely what they have for Christmas. It also doesn’t help when online sites actually tell your kids all the places you’re likely to try and hide their presents. If you rent a self storage unit you won’t need to worry – even if they know you’ve got it, they can’t get in!.
  2. You might have a room in your house where you normally store your extra Christmas goods. However, if you’re like me, you’ll have been using the same space all year to store things that you’ve ‘tidied up’ or bought but only use from time to time. It would be wise to de-clutter in the build up to Christmas and use a small self storage unit to help create some much needed space. Once the festive season is over, you can either bring your things back to the house or keep them in the unit as part of your overall New Year clean out.
  3. When the 12 days of Christmas is up, how many of us strip the tree, unclip the lights from the front of the house and stuff them in the nearest cupboard or wardrobe? How many people crush their Christmas decorations because they don’t have a suitable storage solution? If you have a lot of decorations, a sizeable tree and other seasonal goods that aren’t going to be used, why not use a self storage unit to keep them safe and damp free until next year?
  4. Many of us play host to our families at Christmas. 2, 3 10 or maybe as many as 12 pitch up. Some stay for the day, others arrive on the 24th and leave three days later. However long they stay there are normally a host of bags and belongings that come with them. Whether it’s finding somewhere for them to sit or getting their things put away, your rooms become overcrowded. That problem could be solved if you de-clutter a week before Christmas and use a self storage unit to create space in the short term.
